Scenic Canyons Road Trip
Day 1/2: Las Vegas, NV to Zion National Park, UT
Collect your motorhome from Las Vegas. A unique experience awaits you as you head for Zion National Park. Massive canyon walls ascend toward a brilliant blue sky. To experience Zion, you need to walk among the towering cliffs, or challenge your courage in a small narrow canyon. These unique sandstone cliffs range in colour from cream, to pink, to red. They could be described as sand castles crowning desert canyons. Zion River Resort is ideally located for easy access to what truly is one of the nation’s most beautiful parks so base yourself here for more than one night. Also take time to stop off at Springdale, the charming little town which is the gateway to Zion National Park.
There is so much to see, do and enjoy in Zion from hiking the narrows or taking the trail to Angels landing or maybe just enjoying the breath-taking scenery on a mule ride! Complete your day with a visit to the Zion Canyon Theatre.

Day 3/4: Zion National Park, UT to Grand Canyon South Rim, AZ
The highlight of the next part of this tour will be when you stand at the rim of this magnificent National Park. No photograph, painting or film begins to capture it: you just have to carry the memory away with you. We like the Mather Campground for its peace and quiet and natural surroundings. Be on the rim for the mesmerising colour changes of sunrise and maybe take a helicopter flight over the Canyon. It’s life changing!

Day 5/6: Grand Canyon South Rim, AZ to Lake Powell, AZ
Head east through more of Grand Canyon National Park and through the Kaibab National Forest to Cameron, then Page and finally fabulous Lake Powell on the Colorado River. Enjoy something of the Lake Powell adventures! Take a speedboat or alternatively book the excursion from Lake Powell resort to Rainbow Bridge Monument and explore.

Day 7:Lake Powell, AZ to Monument Valley, UT
This morning head into the town of Page and take an Antelope Canyon tour to Antelope Canyon the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. Then take your time as you continue your drive to Monument Valley. Photo stops are made at “The Mittens”, “John Fords’s Point”, “Three Sisters” and many more. The tour covers some restricted areas and takes you to some magnificent rock formations.

Day 8: Monument Valley, UT to Bluff, UT
You will need to be up early this morning as you head for Bluff to enjoy one of the best oneday river trips available in the West with Wild River Expeditions. In the morning they make two stops to learn about the Butler Wash petroglyph panel and River House cliff dwelling, then enjoy a fresh gourmet lunch under the cottonwoods before entering a limestone chasm for the afternoon, where you’ll see desert bighorn sheep and 300 million year-old fossils. A full day and 26 miles in length, this is a great trip for those with limited time and super fun for families.

Day 9: Bluff, UT to Mesa Verde, CO
Today you are heading for Mesa Verde via Four Corners monument, this area of the USA is known as Four Corners; as it is in the corner of four states. Northwest is Utah, northeast is Colorado, southeast is New Mexico and southwest is Arizona. Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years. Today the park protects nearly 5,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the USA.

Day 10/11: Mesa Verde, CO to Moab, UT
Today you are heading for Moab, enroute visit Hole N” The Rock, a unique historic 5,000 square foot home, carved out of a huge rock in Canyonlands Country. From Moab visit Canyonlands National Park and the Islands in the Sky Visitor Centre. The Island in the Sky mesa rests on sheer sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet
Every overlook offers a different perspective on Canyonlands’ spectacular landscape. The Island is the easiest district to visit in a short period of time. Moab is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts and the Moab Adventure Center, offers the easiest way for you to reserve outdoor activities. You can relax afterwards on an evening Dinner Cruise or the Sound and Light Cruise.

Day 12: Moab, UT to Capitol Reef National Park, UT
Take your time to explore Arches National Park which preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch. Nature has exposed a landscape of contrasting colours, landforms and textures unlike any other and the greatest density of natural arches in the world. Then continue your journey through Capitol Reef National Park and overnight here at Fruita campground.

Day 13: Capitol Reef National Park, UT to Bryce Canyon
Sometimes you find yourself on a road that you can sense is something truly special and that is the case today as you travel along scenic Byway 12. Discover the vast Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument and the tranquil beauty of Boulder Mountain interspersed with national forest lands and state parks like you’ve never seen as you uncover a sense of prehistory that strengthens the fabric of this memorable road trip.

Day 14: Bryce Canyon, UT to Mesquite, NV
Bryce Canyon National Park has been described as a scientist’s laboratory and a child’s playground. It certainly is ‘one of a kind’ and spectacularly different from anything you have seen before. Natural amphitheatres lie above an array of white and orange limestone columns and walls sculptured by rain, snow, and frost. Because you will probably want to spend more time in Bryce this morning, we suggest overnighting in Mesquite on your way to Las Vegas.

Day 15: Drive 98 miles to return your motorhome to Las Vegas.
